The SLC Comedy Carnivale will take place September 17-21 and is billed as Utah's first submission-based comedy festival,

The fest received over 120 submissions to perform from talent all over the United States and Canada.

The Carnivale will showcase Stand Up, Improv, Film and Video Sketch, with nationally known headliners sprinkled throughout.

The Comedy Carnivale headliner will be The Upright Citizens Brigade's New York Touring company (http://www.ucbtheatre.com), and they will be presenting a special performance of ASSSSCAT.

Here is a brief schedule of events, with descriptions provided by the fest organizers:

Tuesday September 17 - Comedy Marathon MS Fundraiser.

Eighteen comedians from all over the country will take the stage at The Complex (http://www.thecomplexslc.com). A donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Utah gets you in the door. This will be a great way to get a sample of the performers for this 5 day comedy fest.

Wednesday September 18 - Let the shows begin.

The night kicks off at The Complex with 3 blocks of shows. Local and national talent will be mixed in throughout the night. Including local favorites John Hilder, Levi Rounds, and Jay Whittaker. National talent will include Christian Spicer from Los Angeles, Tim Messenger from Denver and to top off the night special headliner Matt Knudsen from Conan, The Late Late Show and HBO.

Thursday September 19 – Improv and Stand Up at the new Sugar Space Center for the Arts, River District.

Come out for comedy at the new Sugar Space Center for the Arts, River District location(http://www.thesugarspace.com) in their outdoor performance space. The night will be filled with 3 shows featuring bothImprov and Stand Up Comedy. 3 blocks of shows will fill the night. Local Improv staples, Quick Wits, ToySoup, and Jokyr & Jesster will grace the stage. National talent includes, Squeeze from Los Angeles, and comedy sex therapist Famke's How to F. Stand Up comedy will also be featured with performances by local comedian Jason Harvey and nationally recognized Alien Warrior Comedian (NBC).

Friday September 20 – 2 huge shows back at the Complex.

First up we will present Lady to Lady starring Barbara Gray, Brandie Posey and Tess Barker(http://ladytolady.libsyn.com). Lady to Lady has performed on the Comedy Central stage in Los Angeles, as well having a monthly spot at the world famous Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA. Their weekly podcast has been climbing the comedy charts consistently. The show will also include special guests, Melissa Merlot,Natashia Mower, Laura Crawford and Whitney Streedfrom the popular show Portlandia.
