It has been seven years since the Australian modern rock trio Sick Puppies rose to prominence when its song "All the Same" was uploaded with a YouTube video that supported the Free Hugs Campaign.
Since then, it has been seen nearly 75 million times.
The Sick Puppies are still going strong, with the new album "Connect" released in July.
Frontman Shim Moore said the album was influenced by 2011's "Polar Opposite," which featured acoustic versions of their best-known songs, augmented by classical strings.
That left turn "totally changed what we did," Moore said. "It gave us freedom." That doesn't mean the band has softened its approach or music, even though the latter half of "Connect" is dominated by acoustic guitars.
In fact, the anthemic new single, "There's No Going Back," features the refrain, "F**k that going back." The band still features the spirit that has emboldened the members since the core began in high school. "There's a different kind of work ethic, growing up in Australia," Moore said. "It gives you a fire."
