Pianist Josh Wright is the next performer in a monthly series presented by the Excellence in the Community Foundation.

The Steinway artist's self-titled debut album topped the Billboard Classical Traditional chart just three weeks after its April 2011 release.

His latest CD, "My Favorite Things," was released in May.

In a phone interview, Wright said that while his first album focused on hymns, his new album blends classical with popular music. "We wanted to have a variety," said the 25-year-old Sandy native, who received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Utah.

He now is attending the University of Michigan, working toward a doctorate in piano performance.

Wright's versatility is illustrated throughout his new album, where compositions from Ravel and Rachmaninoff rub shoulders with music from films such as "Harry Potter," "Schindler's List" and "The Wizard of Oz."
