The Women's Red Rock Music Fest is alive and well in Torrey, with musicians such as Toby, Jess Furman, Wayward Molly and many, many others at this two-day music festival.

Performing twice is alt-country band Antigone Rising, a New York-based quartet featuring Kristen Henderson, Cathy Henderson, Dena Tauriello, and Nini Camps.

Kristen has raised the status of the band after writing a memoir for Simon & Schuster, Times Two, Two Women in Love and the Happy Family They Made, which told the story she and her wife, Sarah Ellis-Henderson, experienced as they started a family - eventually getting pregnant on the same day. She and her wife were featured on the cover of Time Magazine's "Gay Marriage Already Won" cover on April 18 of this year.

The exposure was "monumental for us," said Cathy in a phone interview.

That exposure followed notoriety the quartet gained when in 2005, they became the first artists to be promoted in Starbucks stores across the country. Because of the Starbucks tie-in, the band ended up opening up shows for Aerosmith, Rob Thomas, the Allman Brothers Band, and even the Rolling Stones.
