Calling all Joseph Smith Sr. descendants.

The Smith family is holding its first joint family reunion since 1972, and reunion organizers are hoping to break a world record for the most family members attending a reunion.

The current record is 2,585.

The kick-off is a two-hour musical extravaganza which is being held on Friday. August 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Draper Amphitheater.

Direct Smith Family descendants of Joseph Jr., Hyrum, Katherine, Lucy, William, and Samuel Smith are invited to attend this event.Nathan Osmond and actor Rick Macy, who played the roll of Joseph Smith Sr. on several films, will appear.

Performers at the event will include Masa Fukuda and the One Voice Children's Choir, Amy Whitcomb and Midas Whale from "The Voice," Shaun Canon, Patti Jensen, and Paul "Cactus Jack" LaMarr.

Registration for the reunion is Thursday, August 1, at the University of Utah LDS Institute at 1780 E. South Campus Dr. from 6 to 9 p.m.for the Joseph Smith Sr. family, and at Snydermill Lodge near Park City for the Joseph Smith Jr. family.
