Spy Hop presenting event where you can be like Mr. Wonderful or Mark Cuban of 'Shark Tank'

It's like "Shark Tank"! And you can be the Salt Lake City version of Mister Wonderfiul!

On May 16, afterschool and community program Spy Hop will ask 15 of its core students to stand up in front of a live audience and pitch their ideas.

And in return, the nonprofit youth media organization asks the community to support its creative youth.

The live auction will feature music, film and game design students talking about their next big idea and highlighting all the ways Spy Hop has helped them achieve it.For example, Gabriella Huggins, a longtime Spy Hop student and a recent graduate of West High School, will be pitching her film "understated, overstepped," a documentary about young people's use of the "N-word" and what it means for our connections to the past and our perception of race.

In another example, Keila Cone-Uemura, part of the Musicology band, Jumping Trains, will be speaking about their push to get their first record, full of original songs, recorded and released andAttendees are invited to bid on the programs, projects and films, with a chance to see their name in the credits for as little as $25.All proceeds raised during the auction go directly to supporting the over 2,000 young people annually who attend Spy Hop's programs in film, audio, music and design.The event will be held 116 Rio Grande Street, The Gateway (the old Anthropologie store) from 6 – 9:30 p.m.General Admission for the fundraiser is $50.Tickets are available at http://www.spyhop.org/ or by calling (801) 532-7500Food and drinks will be presented by Em's Restaurant, Franck's, Oasis Café, Tin Angel Café, Utah Food Services, Harmons Grocery, Red Rock Brewing, Creminelli, Tuscany, Café Trio, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Southern Wine & Spirits.
