Three outstanding Utah music students – winners of the 2013 Student Concerto Competition – will perform during the Utah Wind Symphony’s March 28 concert.
The student winners are:
• Ayden Olsen, clarinet, of Farmington Junior High School;
• Brandon Chamberlain, trumpet, Jordan High School;
• Carson Tueller, flute, Weber State University.
They will perform special concertos as part of the scholarship prize: Olsen will play Concerto for Clarinet K622 movement 3, by Mozart; Chamberlain will perform Alexander Arutunian’s Concerto for Trumpet; and Tueller will perform Chaminade’s Concertino.
The UWS Youth Ensemble will join the Symphony for John Mackey’s Hymn to a Blue Hour and John Chance’s Incantation and Dance.
The performance will take place at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, 138 West 300 South, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Utah Wind Symphony is in its third season under Music Director Scott Hagen, and is sponsored by the Legacy Music Alliance.
Legacy Music Alliance was organized in 2010 as a non-profit association to bolster music education in the Intermountain West and is headed by CEO Gaylen Rust, a successful Utah businessman. Dr.Craig Jessop, Dean of the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University and former Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, is Chairman of the Executive Advisory Board.
