Sound City Players to perform on 'Kimmel' Tuesday

ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will present a unique concert (shutting Hollywood Boulevard down) for an exclusive performance by Dave Grohl and the Sound City Players featuring Rick Springfield, John Fogerty, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and Lee Ving of Fear -- all backed by Grohl's extended musical family including the full Foo Fighters lineup, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, and Alain Johannes.

The concert will take place on Tuesday, March 5, in the heart of Hollywood.

Sound City Players was assembled to play the music created for the Grohl-directed "Sound City" documentary and its accompanying "Sound City - Real to Reel" album-as well as classics spanning the artists' storied careers.

"Sound City" was conceived by Grohl after he purchased the legendary custom-built Neve 8028 recording console from historic Sound City Studios last year. It debuted at Sundance.

On Tuesday night's show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" also welcomes Zach Braff and Lauren Cohan ("The Walking Dead").

Tune in at 10:35 p.m. on ABC.
