Deseret Book Company announced Tuesday that its free e-reader, Deseret Bookshelf, has surpassed the 200,000-download mark and is nearing a quarter-million people reading it titles digitally.

The application, created specifically for the LDS community and scripture study, has been available since April 2011. "We are so excited about the success of Bookshelf," said Dallas Petersen, Digital Product Director at Deseret Book, in a press release. "We're working hard to stay ahead of the publishing curve and offer our customers valuable content in the format they prefer, be it physical or digital. We're constantly adding more features and titles to our app, and hope readers will take advantage of what we have to offer." Users of the app receive eight free classic Mormon titles in their libraries upon installation. They also get a copy of the Old and New Testaments, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price.

The Deseret Bookshelf eBook store contains 2,100+ LDS titles, and the eBook version of each new release is made available with the release of each physical book.

Deseret Bookshelf also provides exclusive content not available in print. Deseret Bookshelf is available on both iOS and Android devices and is gaining roughly 5,000 downloads per week.
