The Covey Center for the Arts in Provo announced the creation of an all-new a cappella vocal program for talented singers ages 15 – 18.
The Covey Center vocal program is produced by the director of the group, Vocal Point, which was featured in NBC's "The Sing-Off."
The purpose of the Covey Center vocal program is to give performers the necessary knowledge and training to competitively pursue collegiate and professional vocal opportunities.
The program is by semester and will begin in January and run through June of 2013. Classes will be held weekly and instructed by industry professionals.
In addition to performance experience, singers will receive vocal, dance and stage instruction, as well as professional recording studio training and real world recording experience. Space is limited and entrance is by audition only.
Auditions will be held on Dec. 13 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Covey Center, located at 425 W. Center Street in Provo.
Call backs will be by invitation only and held on December 15 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. also at the Covey Center.
No prior experience is needed but participants should be prepared to sing a 30-second solo in any commercial style, learn and perform simple choreographed moves and sing harmony with other singers.
Tuition for this program is $185 a month per performer.
To schedule audition times, sign up online at www.coveycenter.org under auditions or call the Covey Center ticket office at 801-852-7007.
