Here are two upcoming musical events up north at Utah State in Logan:
Utah State University’s Music Department will present the annual fall guitar ensemble concert Monday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Auditorium.
"This concert features something for everyone and will be a great show," said Mike Christiansen, professor of music and director of guitar studies in the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University, in a press release.
Students will perform Tommy Keene’s "La Castana," Richard Rodger’s "My Funny Valentine" and Duke Ellington’s "Take the A Train."
This performance marks the 35th year that guitar ensembles have performed at USU.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID. "Chamber music holds a special place here at Utah State," said Bradley Ottesen, string faculty member in the Caine College of the Arts, in a press release. "It’s one of the great strengths of our program and provides a window into the personality of the performer."
All students in the string program will perform the music of Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Gioachino Rossini and other classical masters.
