Otter Creek, one of Utah's favorite folk bands, will hold a CD release concert on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 East Murray-Holladay Road, Salt Lake City.
The new album is called "Shiver Into Spark." With 10 instruments between them, Otter Creek (Peter & Mary Danzig) won the title of "Favorite Folk Band" in 2011 from the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association (IAMA) and swept Utah’s state instrument championships, winning the Fiddle, Banjo, and Mandolin categories.
The Danzigs began playing music together in elementary school orchestra. After completing music degrees Peter worked as a composer for the Utah Opera Company’s educational outreach program, and together they played as professional classical musicians, accompanying many internationally renowned performers and conductors including Fredericka von Stade, John Williams and Bryn Terfel. In 2009 Peter and Mary formed Otter Creek.
Ticket sales will benefit the music and arts programs at the Church. Kristin Erickson will be opening for the duo.
