Westminster College will present a master class by the renowned operatic mezzo-soprano, Frederica von Stade, on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory.
The public is invited to view and listen as von Stade coaches the college’s aspiring singers.
The audience will hear some of Westminster's best singers perform as Von Stade helps them hone their musicianship, technique and artistry.
The class will be followed by a brief question-and-answer period for the audience.
"We are beyond thrilled to have an artist of Ms. von Stade's caliber come work with our young singers at Westminster," said Michael Chipman, assistant professor of music and head of Westminster's voice program, in a press release. "On and off stage she exudes consummate artistry, warm humanity and an indescribable spark of personality that makes her a star. Our students and campus community will be better and brighter because of her visit."
Von Stade has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera Covent Garden and the Vienna state opera. In 2002, she performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as part of the opening ceremonies of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the Westminster Box Office at 801-832-2457 or https://www.ezticketlive.com/checkout/event_view.asp?id=21.&n
