The Hotel Bar and Nightclub

Jessica Simpson is recuperating from her recent delivery so she probably won’t enter, which means that the club’s Daisy Dukes Contest is wide-open. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best pair of Daisy Dukes (jean shorts) in a contest hosted by Jaclyn Daly. As of press time, the Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg contests haven’t been scheduled.

When • Tonight at 7

Where • The Hotel Bar and Nightclub, 155 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City

The Complex

Seven dollars is all you need to see the latest installment of the Comedy With a Complex series, featuring 10 comics doing 10 minutes each. Here’s the lineup for this edition of "10 Fast and 10 Furious": Tashia Mower, Brian Pope, Christian Pieper, Patricia Stevenson, Jonny Brandin, Mary Clay, Ryen Schlegel, Lamar Kellywood, Arthur Carter and Manuel Rodriguez.

When • Tonight at 8

Where • The Complex, 536 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City

Piper Down

Trivia nerds are already participating in Piper Down’s "Geeks Who Drink" contest every Wednesday, so now it’s time for the rest of us to get involved. Participating is free, and questions hit a range of subjects, from fast food to song lyrics to wordplay. Here’s some sample questions from the "Geeks Who Drink" website:

1. Elton John’s tiny dancer was a blue jean baby and an LA Lady. What was her job for the band?

2. In Right Said Fred’s lyrical masterpiece "I’m Too Sexy," which of the following is Fred NOT too sexy for? A. His shirt. B. New York. C. Your party. or D. His pants.

3. A cowboy puts a notch in his gun. Where does Pat Benatar put hers in "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"?

4. According to Naughty By Nature, what is rule No. 1 in this OPP establishment?

When • Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Where • Piper Down & Olde World Pub, 1492 S. State St., Salt Lake City

5 Monkeys

Compete in a free pool tournament every Thursday and listen to live music with DJ at 5 Monkeys, which I sometimes get confused with the 1995 film "12 Monkeys" with Brad Pitt as a character who at one point in the film shouts "Colonics for everyone!" Thank goodness colonics will not be offered at this event — well, unless you get lucky.

When • Thursday at 8 p.m.

Where • 5 Monkeys, 7 E. 4800 South, Murray

Club 90

To some, July Fourth is the most important holiday of the first week of July. To others, July 5 reigns supreme: It’s National Bikini Day. (Ben Franklin likely wouldn’t be offended by this sentiment.) Club 90 is celebrating by inviting women to participate in a contest with a $50 cash prize. Trivia: National Nude Day is officially July 14, which at press time isn’t being celebrated at Club 90. If you are trying to take baby steps into a nudist lifestyle, it might be good to try a bikini in public first on National Bikini Day, and after you get more comfortable, do the full monty on July 14.

When • Thursday at 9 p.m.

Where • Club 90, 150 W. 9065 South, Sandy
