The Gallivan Center will be hosting music and flame-grilled favorites from some of Salt Lake City's greatest BBQ restaurants at the eighth annual Rock 'N' Ribs Festival on Saturday, August 20, from 2-10 p.m.

Admission to the event is free.

Local rock bands including The Trophy Husbands, Mark Jenkins Band, Texas Uprising and The Disgusting Brothers will perform. City restaurants will offer $3 sample plates among other flame-grilled favorites. Barbeque competitors from all over the country will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes. As an officially sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society event, the Grand Champion griller of Rock 'N' Ribs qualifies for the Jack Daniels BBQ Invitational in Tennessee and the Royal American in Kansas City – the two biggest BBQ competitions in the nation.

Competitors will cook ribs, chicken, pork and brisket on Gallivan Avenue beginning Friday, August 19. Awards will be announced Saturday at the Festival at 4:30 p.m. In addition to music, food and activities, the Gallivan Center will partner with Team Donate Life Utah – a non-profit foundation – to help increase awareness and raise proceeds for organ donation and to reverse the severe shortage of organ and tissue donors in our community.
