Marié Rossano, winner of the 2nd Stradivarius International Violin Competition, is in Utah preparing for her debut with the Utah Symphony.

In 2010, Marié walked away from the competition with $7,500 cash and a hand-made violin by Charles W. Liu (valued at $12,000).

Today, Marié will claim the last portion of her prize: a solo appearance with the Utah Symphony. This violinist, age 17, from Bellevue, Washington, will play several selections, including Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-Saens and Tzigane by Ravel. Under the direction of David Lockington, this concert highlights Eastern European Dances.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. tonight at St. Mary's Church in Park City, and is part of the Deer Valley Music Festival. Tickets may be purchased through http://www.usuo.org or Art Tix.
