"American Idol" finalist Brooke White, who was memorable for her folk-pop renditions invoking Carly Simon and Carole King, will present a two-hour workshop June 23 in Salt Lake City for aspiring singers and songwriters.
The event is sponsored by Soundcheckseries, a division of Legacy Music Alliance, as part of a year-long series of workshops and expos designed to boost the careers of emerging musical artists, songwriters, and others who want to pursue opportunities in the music industry. It will be held June 23 at the Metcom Studios, 352 South 500 East, in downtown Salt Lake City beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 at the door. There will be a question and answer session after her presentation as well as an opportunity to mingle and talk with White. For more information go to www.soundcheckseries.com.
Her first post-Idol album, produced by "Idol" judge Randy Jackson, was called "High Hopes and Heartbreak" and released in 2009.
The Legacy Music Alliance was organized in 2010 as a non-profit association to bolster music education in the Intermountain West and increase Utah’s stature as a prominent national music education and resource center. The Legacy Music Alliance is headed by CEO Gaylen Rust, a successful Utah businessman, and Dr. Craig Jessop, Dean of the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University. Dr. Jessop was the former Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
