Bob Dylan turns 70 today, but it is his fans who are getting a great gift. His birthday marks the re-release of "No Direction Home: The Life and Music of Bob Dylan," written by the late New York Times critic Robert Shelton. This biography has always been the best, most definitive volume about the mercurial Dylan, and the re-release is even more revealing. More than 20,000 words from Shelton's original manuscript have been restored. Plus there's an updated bibliography and footnotes that bring readers up to date on Mr. Zimmerman, who has done plenty since the first edition was published in 1986.
