Review • Produced by Nirvana's "Nevermind" producer Butch Vig, "Wasting Light" was recorded on analog tape in the garage of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl's home. The low-fi, no-computer approach brings a rawer edge to a rock band that's too often been over-produced. That's the good news. The bad news is that these songs are only minimally catchy, with unmemorable tunes and melodies. Grohl brings back Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic for a romp that, unfair as it is to compare, Nirvana would have left in the cutting room. Grade: C
Review • Finally, a "Glee" album I can respect. "Glee: The Music Presents the Warblers" features the fictional male a cappella group from The Dalton Academy — in reality, show stars Darren Criss and Chris Colfer, with the Tufts University Beelzebubs. This actually sounds like an album from a glee club, with a cappella versions of pop songs instead of the over-produced and over-orchestrated renditions that the "Glee" franchise has dumped on the market. While Criss and Colfer don't match the vocal skills of the leaders of, say, Brigham Young University's Vocal Point, this is an enjoyable "Glee" album. Finally. Grade: B
