I spent the morning at one of Salt Lake City’s newest foodie corners — 400 South and 400 West. First, I ran into Jerry Leitke, chef/owner at Tin Angel Cafe, at 365 W. 400 South.
Then I walked around back to SugarDaddy Sweet Shoppe — which is open by appointment only — and talked to owner Redge Johnson. He shared a holiday cookie recipe that you’ll see next week in The Tribune.
Finally, I stopped in to see Mele Tua’one, owner of Mololo Gardens, at 361 W. 400 South. (Just east of Tin Angel). When the locally owned shop, opened in the spring it was filled with garden seedlings and plants. Today, it looks a bit different, but just as exciting with many locally owned products including PopArt popcorn, Slide Ridge Honey Wine vinegar, Butcher’s Bunches jams, Conspiracy Chocolate, Morgan Valley Lamb and more.
Tua’one invited new and repeat customers to her winter party on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Local vendors, free demonstrations and music are planned — and you’re likely to find a Christmas gift or two.
