Kathy Stephenson has been the food writer at The Tribune since 2000. A Utah native, Stephenson's first job was picking zucchini on her grandparent's Kaysville farm. Every Christmas, Stephenson's neighbors and colleagues look forward to getting a plate of her baklava. Last year, she gave away nearly 300 pieces.

Spice Bistro, which specializes in the foods of India and Nepal, opened recently at 6121 S. Highland Dr., in the former location of Yorgio’s.

The menu offers a variety of meats cooked in a Tandoor (clay) oven, as well as curry, masala, vegetarian entrees and flat bread. The restaurant also offers a few American specialities such as pastas and grilled steaks.

Prices from $10.95 to $24.95.
