Summer Sanders, a two-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer and a part-time Park City resident, is one of the celebrity contestants on the new Food Network competition "Rachel vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-off."
The show, premieres Sunday, Jan. 1 and features celebrity chefs Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri. Each will serve as coach and mentor to the eight celebrities, all of whom were selected because they are passionate about food and cooking.
I'll be talking to Summer on Monday morning about the show. She probably won't give away too many secrets, but maybe she'll dish about her fellow contestants who include actor Lou Diamond Phillips; popstar Aaron Carter; singer-actor Joey Fatone; recording artist and actress Taylor Dayne; hip-hop artist, Coolio; comedian and actor Cheech Marin; and Miss USA 2011 Alyssa Campanella.
During each of the six episodes the contestants battle in a fast-paced competition. The two bottom-rated contestants from the losing team going head-to-head in a blind tasting elimination challenge. In the end, the last contestant standing is crowned king or queen of the Celebrity Cook-Off and wins $50,000 for charity.
In the premier, Rachael and Guy welcome the contestants and select their teams, who then must create an original dish for 150 people. At the end of the festival, each contestant’s fate lies in the hands of the attendees, who vote for the team with the best food.
