For the most decadent cup of hot chocolate in Utah, try the flavors offered by a new company called Chocolate + cream.
Owner Alexandra Ziegenmeir melts top quality Valrhona chocolate and combines it with cream and a bit of milk. The mixture is steeped with whole spices to infuse flavor. It’s rich, so you only need a small cup to feel like you’ve had a treat.
A 3-ounce serving is $3.99. It is available only at Caputo’s Market and Deli, 314 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Larger containers also are available for take home.
Three flavors are available:
Barcelona • milk chocolate with cinnamon, cardamom and almond notes.
Mayan dark • with a touch of fresh habañero
Salted caramel • with a hint of espresso, sea salt and lemon essence.
