Cafe SuperNatural, the third restaurant and fourth business for Salt Lake City chef Ian Brandt, recently opened adjacent to the Prana Yoga Studio in Trolley Square.
But you don’t have to be a yoga student to enjoy this healthy, spa food.
Brandt, who also owns Sage’s Cafe, Vertical Diner and Cali’s Natural Foods, is offering a plant-based menu that includes globally inspired soups, salads, wraps and entrees. All foods are either raw, steamed or cooked lightly, without a lot of heavy oils. The menu also is peanut-free and gluten free. Everything costs under $10.
Entrees to try include the Machu Picchu, steamed potatoes or quinoa served with steamed seasonal vegetables and roasted chili cashew cream sauce ($8.75) and the Mesa Azul, two blue corn winter squash tamales with pumpkin seed-tomato mole and baby greens ($9.75)
The cafe also serves fresh pressed juices, smoothies, coffee/tea, elixirs and shakes made with some of the world’s best “super foods.”
