Jordan Wynn was forced off the field due to injuries but he isn't finished with the sport of football just yet. Wynn will join Norm Chow's staff at Hawaii as the quarterbacks coach in January, Chow confirmed with The Salt Lake Tribune. Chow served as Utah's offensive coordinator last year and formed a close bond with Wynn. After Wynn suffered his season-ending shoulder injury against Washington, he spent much of the time during Utah's games with Chow in the booth. "The time we were together, I enjoyed it immensely," Chow said. "He is going to take our quarterbacks and be our quarterbacks coach and I'm really excited." Chow said he thought he could handle the responsibilities of being a head coach and coach the quarterbacks at the same time but realized it was too much and decided to hire Wynn. "It's a lot to handle," he said. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Wynn was emotional last week when he broke the news to him. Wynn was working with Utah freshman quarterback Travis Wilson. "It sounds like he has a good opportunity and I wish him well in that," Whittingham said. Whittingham has always said Wynn knew the game of football well and did a great job studying and preparing. From a media standpoint, Wynn always handled himself well even when things were rough for him. It's good to see him get a chance to learn from one of the sport's great offensive minds in the game. Certainly not a bad way to start a coaching career. As for the Utes, Whittingham said he was happy with the way his team has practiced this week and doesn't sense any sort of letdown after the loss to Washington. "This group has practiced well all season long and they take care of business," he said. "They come back with resolve and I expect them to play well this Saturday." - Lya Wodraska
