The question of the day is, if you were Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, would you start Jordan Wynn Saturday? Wynn has worn a brace on his sprained thumb all week and didn't throw earlier in the week (at least during the limited minutes media members are allowed to watch, and before practice is closed on Thursday). Sprains can be pesky and you definitely don't want the minor injury to turn into a season-long hindrance. So would you start Terrance Cain to be safe? The Utes are good enough and UNLV is bad enough that Utah should be able to beat the Rebels with virtually anyone at quarterback, and maybe this is a good time to see how much Cain really has improved. Course, remember the last time Utah did something like that? How about the 2007 UNLV game which the Utes lost 27-0? That year quarterback Brian Johnson injured his shoulder in the opener at Oregon State and didn't start against UNLV. The Utes started Tommy Grady instead and he and the Utes stumbled to a 13-0 halftime deficit. Johnson played in the second half, but by that time the Rebels were on their way to a huge upset. I doubt the current Utes would let something similar happen, but still, do you risk it? Or do you risk Wynn?
