Utah coach Kyle Whittingham was coy about the status of quarterback Jordan Wynn Monday, saying only that the sophomore is day to day with a sprained thumb. Expect that status to remain the same for the rest of the week. Whittingham always is hesitant to talk about the status of injured players, particularly when they are quarterbacks, because he doesn't feel he needs to give his opponent any more help than necessary. Terrance Cain took more snaps in Monday's practice while Wynn didn't throw. All Whittingham would say was that there is a contingency plan already in place for Cain, if he is needed. My hunch is Wynn will play, particularly since he was able to finish Thursday's game and has a few extra days to recover, but don't expect Whittingham to say that, or much else. The Utes have a lot to clean up, Whittingham said, but he also saw plenty of positive things in his review of the Pitt game. Whittingham liked the way Utah's offensive line played, how corner Lamar Chapman played and the effort Brandon Burton made. Linebacker Chaz Walker was the team's defensive player of the week after finishing with 11 tackles. "We had some guys with not a lot of experience play well," he said.
