With 24 recruits coming in, a lot of questions for next year's Utah State football team have been answered.
At least two questions linger: Who will be the Aggies' next defensive coordinator, and who will coach the running backs?
Nearly a month and a half into Matt Well's tenure as head coach, those positions are still vacant. The past few weeks have been stuffed with recruiting visits and trips, but now with Signing Day passed, there will be a bit more emphasis in shoring up the coaching staff for next year.
"We have got to hire a defensive coordinator and a running back coach and we have talked to some people," Wells said Wednesday. "We have got more people coming in and just trying to find the right fit and the right mixture and the right chemistry on our staff is the most important to me. I truly believe a great decision tomorrow is better than a good decision today."
Wells said it wasn't an issue in recruiting. Although the majority of the class is offensive help, Wells said having open spots "did not hurt us one bit in recruiting. In fact, it never came up."
Utah State did retain most of its assistants on the defensive side of the ball, including Kevin Clune, Frank Maile and Kendrick Shaver. The three were key in helping the Aggies finish No. 7 nationally in scoring defense. Shaver was named a co-defensive backs coach of the year by FootballScoop.com
