Utah State shooting guard Antonio Bumpus has broken his foot and will be sidelined for an extended period of time, Stew Morrill said on Tuesday afternoon.

Morrill said that Bumpus, a junior college all-american last season, is expected to miss 8-10 weeks of action, which would keep him out until conference play, at least.

Bumpus was slated to redshirt anyway, so he's in no danger of missing any actual gametime. However, the redshirt season was supposed to be used to get him acclimated to Morrill's system, and it's not clear how much his injury will affect that ability.

Bumpus was lauded over the summer for his play in pick-up games. He's said to be an athletic scorer, a shooter with the ability to get to the rim off the dribble. He's also 6-foot-5, which is good size for a shooting guard. He's expected to challenge for a starting spot in in Morrill's backcourt next season.
