Last week, Utah State basketball received what appeared to be a huge commitment from DeShawn Stephens, a 6-foot-9 forward from Santa Monica College.

As of Tuesday night, that commitment appears to be in doubt.

According to the Santa Monica College athletic page, Stephens appears to have committed to San Diego State. But some things just aren't adding up.

1) The commitment on the home page was dated Tuesday, October 19th, the same day Stephens committed to the Aggies.

2) KNVU A.M. radio in Cache Valley told Aggieville on Tuesday via twitter that Stephens interviewed on the 20th, one day after his commitment, and sounded, "excited" about the prospect of being an Aggie.

3) This blog ran into a USU assistant on Saturday during Utah State's football game against Hawaii, and nothing sounded amiss about Stephens' recruitment.

4) A google search didn't turn up any more evidence, a news report or otherwise, of Stephens committing elsewhere

Of course, it would help if anyone will pick up the phone, but as of Tuesday night, several sources have been unreachable. More later, as confirmation can be reached, either way.
