If you didn't get enough of Sundance's Next program - fillmed with scruffy, micro-budgeted independent films - then you'll want to get to Los Angeles this August.

Next Weekend, a four-day film festival celebrating "stylistically adventurous films that take a bold approach to storytelling," will take place in L.A. from August 8 to 11, the Sundance Institute announced Monday.

The event will take place at the Sundance Sunset Cinemas and other locations around Los Angeles. The event - billed as an extension of the Next <=> program that is part of the Sundance Film Festival every January - will include screenings of eight yet-to-be-released feature films, as well as parties and artist programs.

Next Weekend will include:

• An opening-night outdoor screening Aug. 8 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery's Cinespia.

• A panel discussion on how these super-low-budget films get made.

• The annual ShortsLab: Los Angeles, a half-day short filmmaking workshop.

• Expanding on closing night, Aug. 11, to venues across Los Angeles including the American Cinematheque at the Aero Theatre, Cinefamily, MOCA, and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television at the Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum.

The Sundance Institute website has posted an interview with Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper and program director Trevor Groth about the weekend plans.
