• Director Kathryn Bigelow defends herself from critics of her hunt-for-Osama thriller "Zero Dark Thirty," saying that depicting torture isn't the same as endorsing it. [Los Angeles Times]

• Lifetime has canceled the comedy-drama "Drop Dead Diva" after four seasons. [Entertainment Weekly]

• Japanese director Nagisa Oshima, most famous for his sexually explicit 1976 classic "In the Realm of the Senses," has died at the age of 80. [The Guardian]
