Adam Price, recently departed as artistic director of the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, is heading East.
Price has been appointed the executive director of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, directors of the Omaha museum announced Tuesday.
"Adam is an exceptional leader with a passion for supporting artists and a deep appreciation of contemporary art. He is the right person to carry out the Bemis mission," said Fred Clark, president of Bemis' board of directors, in a statement.
Price was chosen in a three-month search from more than 40 applicants for the job. "Adam stood out as the most qualified candidate in all areas. We are confident he has the knowledge, passion and leadership skills to take the Bemis to the next level," Simon said.
Price led UMOCA for three and a half years, guiding the museum to a 50-percent rise in fund-raising and a growth in audience to more than 100,000 a year. He oversaw such community events as Luke Jerram's "Play Me, I'm Yours" (which put pianos on the streets of downtown Salt Lake City) and the Art Truck (bringing art commissions free to area schools).
Price starts his new job in Omaha on Feb. 25.
