A Utah filmmaker has won a prize in a national screenwriting contest.
Todd Maetani took first place in the "Action" category in the Creative World Awards, a nationwide competition for screenwriting talent, for his screenplay "My Little War in Juarez."
Here's Maetani's synopsis of the script: "Chemma, an LAPD cop, agrees to marry his fiance in Mexico. When she is kidnapped along the way by the drug cartels, he must fight to find her in the most dangerous city in the word, Cuidad Juarez."
The award comes with a $500 cash prize plus a prize package along with national exposure and, one hopes, a production deal down the road.
