Jazz sign three to training camp roster, more expected
Point guard Scott Machado, forward Mike Harris and forward Dominic McGuire were officially added to the Jazz's training camp roster Thursday. The signings brought the roster to 16 players, with at least three more expected before media day on Monday.
The league maximum is 20, but must be reduced to 15 by opening night.
Each of the players added to the roster has NBA experience, led by McGuire's 342 career games over six seasons. He has played for Washington, Sacramento, Golden State, Toronto, New Orleans and Indiana. Since being drafted out of Fresno State, McGuire has averaged 2.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game.
Machado, whose arrival was reported earlier this week, split time between the D-League and the Golden State Warriors last season, appearing in five playoff games with the Warriors. He went undrafted in the 2012 draft after leading Iona to the NCAA Tournament and a first-round loss to Brigham Young.
Harris, 30,6-foot-6 forward, spent parts of three seasons with the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. Last year, Harris averaged 26.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 31 games with the Jiangsu Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association.
The Jazz are also expected to add forward/center Dwayne Jones as well as guard Justin Holliday, the older brother of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holliday. Southeastern Louisiana had tweeted that guard Brandon Fortenberry would also receive an invite, but the Jazz said Thursday that was unlikely to occur.
