Green River Fishing Report from Ryan Kelly of Flaming Gorge ResortFlows: 800Hatches: Lots of Midges, Some BWO'sFishing remained good this week despite copious amounts of wind and a few inches of snow. The wind blew so hard at times it was picking up water and shooting it up the canyon walls. It was a sight to behold, but very hard to fish in. Fortunately, this weeks forecast looks fantastic. We saw solid midge hatches and a few more Blue Wings on the water. Dry fly fishing still remains fair as pods of rising fish remain spotty. If you get into a good pod it can be pretty good. It takes some hunting though. Nymph fishing has been strong with larger midge hatches. Midges range in size from a 16 all the way down to microscopic. BWO's are around a #16. More consistent BWO hatches are probably a week or two away still. The lower river has had some good streamer fishing still. We didn't catch numbers this week, but the fish quality was excellent. In this weeks pics I included a typical A section bow, a nice 20+ inch C section brown, midges accumulating on my boat, and a JuJu baetis (one of the most popular BWO nymphs here on the river).
