From one great quarterback to another. That appears to be the lot of former BYU receiver Austin Collie, who signed today with the New England Patriots. That means Collie will be catching passes from Tom Brady, after starting his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. Collie was released by the Colts last February after four injury filled seasons with Indianapolis. He was close to making the San Francisco 49ers roster over the summer, but was cut just before the season openers. Collie practiced with the Patriots on Thursday, wearing No. 10. According to the Boston Globe, Collie is taking injured lineman Vince Wilfork's spot on the roster. Wilfork suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon recently and is out for the season. How much will Collie play? The Patriots' receiving corps has been decimated by injuries, but top pass-catcher Danny Amendola is expected to return from a groin injury this week. He's missed the last three games. New England's other two healthy receivers are Julian Edelman and Josh Boyce; Rookies Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson are banged up with shoulder and neck injuries, respectively, but have practiced some this week.
