Total Blue Sports is reporting that BYU football coaches have received an oral commitment from Joe Sampson, a junior college defensive back from San Mateo Junior College in California.Sampson is the cousin of current Cougar cornerback Brian Logan. At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Sampson will likely play safety at BYU and will be looked upon to replace all-conference safety Andrew Rich, who is in his final season at BYU. Sampson also had an offer from Utah and was receiving interest from a few Pac-10 schools. He recently attended the BYU-Washington game and reportedly committed to the Cougars on Monday. Sampson graduated from Oakland's Skyline High and played at Foothill CC in 2008 after greyshirting his first year out of high school. He transferred to CSM and played for the Bulldogs in 2009. He is redshirting this season and will have two years to play two at BYU when he signs in December. Sampson had 72 tackles and two interceptions for San Mateo as a sophomore.
