The fourth Mélange concert for The Salty Cricket Composers Collective will be held May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ladies Literary Club (850 E South Temple Salt Lake City).The works will involve audience participation, video, recorded sounds, homemade toy instruments, beat boxing, iPhones, vocal sounds, Mongolian inspired overtone singing, wind and string instruments, and more. THE PROGRAM AND COMPOSERS:Daniel Day "The Real"- Involves: Electronics and stringsSynergy "Expect Nothing Less"Ryan Taylor "Ecstatic Toys"- Involves: Improvisational / audience participation piece involving slides, video, recorded sound samples, homemade and toy instruments distributed throughout the audience.Margot Murdoch: "Omni Voice"- Involves: Omni Voice" for extended vocalist and loop machine/vocal processor is a semi-improvised vocal showcase that employs techniques that include Inuit throat singing, Mongolian inspired overtone singing, operatic and jazz styles, beat boxing, and Indian inspired placements. I will perform myself and will bring my own equipment. Michael Hicks: "The Road" — involves accordian and electronicsCrystal Young-Otterstrom : The iPhone Quintet No. 1 (revised)- Instruments: iPhones and iPads.David Sullivan: Duet for theremin and flexatone. Scott Wasilewski: Radagast part I and II, and it's for piano, cello, synthesizer and timpani.
