Department of Heritage & Arts Executive Director Julie Fisher announced Tuesday that a national search for a new state Arts & Museums director will begin immediately after Tuesday's announced departure of Margaret Hunt."Margaret Hunt's service and dedication to Utah's arts community has been an asset to the state," Fisher said in a press release. "We are saddened by the news that she is leaving, but hope she will continue to be a friend to Utah's arts communities." Hunt has served as director of Arts & Museums, a division of the Department of Heritage and Arts, for more than eight years. She was appointed in January 2005 by former Governor Jon Huntsman. Before that, she served as director of community and economic development for Salt Lake City. The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade announced earlier Tuesday that Hunt had been selected as the new director of its division of Colorado Creative Industries. "It's been my honor and privilege to serve the people of Utah," Hunt said Tuesday in the release. "I leave the Division of Arts and Museums in the good hands of an exceptionally bright, talented and professional team of colleagues. Working with this team has been an honor and a joy."Fisher said Division of Arts & Museums Deputy Director Lynnette Hiskey will serve as acting director.
