From the press release:
Equally at home on the concert stage or at a folk festival, Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster is one of the most versatile and exciting young musicians on both the Folk music and Celtic music scenes. Featuring foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-rending ballads, and world-class step dancing, MacMaster's live performances are amazing. MacMaster is equally adept at hypnotizing a crowd while alone in the footlights. Natalie's fiddling fireworks on traditional and contemporary Celtic melodies generate a kind of "Traditional Fusion" delivered with uplifting energy felt by the musicians and audiences of all ages. It's her dedicated work ethic and signature sound that has seen her accomplish so much: professionally, her three-decade career has watched her amass multiple gold albums, two Grammy nominations and one win (for her contribution to Yo-Yo Ma's Songs Of Joy & Peace, for which she received "a nice bottle of champagne"); a Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album for In My Hands; eight Canadian Country Music Awards, 10 East Coast Music Awards, an honorary doctorate from St. Thomas University and honorary degrees from Niagara University, NY, Trent University and â most recently â the Arts & Letters Award from the Canadian Association of New York.
