The University of Utah School of Music will team up with the Office for Equality and Diversity to present "Sibyl of the Rhine: The Art, Music, & Poetry of Hildegard von Bingen" on March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dumke Recital Room of David Gardner Hall on the University of Utah campus.
Kicking off Women's Week 2013, this multi-media performance will feature the works of Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval German writer, composer, and philosopher and include musical and dance performances, projections of Hildegard's artwork, and discussion of her life and times.Concert Description According to a press release, Hildegard was famous in her lifetime and beyond, not only for her excellent music, but for her writings and her influence on her society on a local and international level.
Salt Lake City musicians Cheryl Hart (soprano), Emily Nelson (soprano), and Lisa Chaufty (recorder) will be joined by Seattle artist Shulamit Kleinerman (vielle) to interpret Hildegard's music, supported by an ensemble of singers from the University of Utah.
