The Downtown Alliance is launching a series of "Pop-Up" Winter Farmers' Markets with a local food focus.

These one-day events will be held monthly (November – April) at different downtown locations.

The first market will be held on Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Rico Foods Warehouse (545 W. 700 S).A pop-up concept offers only dates, times and themes in advance, location and vendor lists are announced two weeks prior.

According to a press release, "Market-goers can expect a bustling, urban environment with live music, kids' activities, guest chefs and seasonal themes."Spring dates will be announced, as will individual vendor lists and locations, at http://www.slcfarmersmarket.org

Winter Market Dates, with info from the Downtown Alliance:

November 17: "Give Thanks" Rico Foods Warehouse – 545 W. 700 South Chefs from Frida Bistro will be on-hand demonstrating meal ideas with local foods for Thanksgiving. Utah Food Bank will be accepting donations and the Salt Lake-based band Touchstone Coyote will perform throughout the day. December 15: "The Holiday Table" 'Tis the season for gatherings and feasts—marketgoers can find many items to complete their Holiday Table at this "Pop-Up"! Locally made pies, sustainably raised beef and lamb, cider from local apples, and much more will be available. January 12: "Healthy New Year"Guest chefs will focus on light and low-calorie cooking, and we'll have kid's activities, food trucks, and New Year produce. February 9: "Chocolate and Cheese" Find deliciously and unique ingredients for a romantic meal, and stock up on local chocolates, cheeses, sweets and treats for a loved one.
