Two upcoming musical events at Utah State

Here are two upcoming musical events up north at Utah State in Logan:

1.

Utah State University's Music Department will present the annual fall guitar ensemble concert Monday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Auditorium. "This concert features something for everyone and will be a great show," said Mike Christiansen, professor of music and director of guitar studies in the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University, in a press release. Students will perform Tommy Keene's "La Castana," Richard Rodger's "My Funny Valentine" and Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train." This performance marks the 35th year that guitar ensembles have performed at USU. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID. The Utah State University String Program will presents its annual fall concert Monday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall on the USU Logan campus. "Chamber music holds a special place here at Utah State," said Bradley Ottesen, string faculty member in the Caine College of the Arts, in a press release. "It's one of the great strengths of our program and provides a window into the personality of the performer." All students in the string program will perform the music of Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Gioachino Rossini and other classical masters. Tickets for the String Chamber Music recital are $10 general admission, $8 seniors & youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with valid ID.
