The fifth annual Chef Showdown at the Downtown Farmers Market takes place tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 11

Nathan Powers, the chef from Bambara, will be defending his title against challengers Jerry Liedtke from The Tin Angel and Charlie Perry from Eva.

The chefs will prepare an appetizer, entree and dessert using a secret ingredient, revealed just before the start of competition at 10:30 a.m.

The chefs will then have 45 minutes to plan their menu and shop for fresh produce and other food stuffs at the market. Cooking starts at 11:30 a.m.

At 12:30 p.m., I'll be judging the event, along with fellow food writer Mary Malouf from Salt Lake Magazine and Ted Scheffler of City Weekly.

Stop by and introduce yourself. The Market takes place at Pioneer Park, 300 South and 300 West.
