RSL gets defensive in Supplemental Draft
Real Salt Lake bolstered its back line some Tuesday, picking a pair of full backs with its two picks in the MLS Supplemental Draft.
With the 50th overall pick, RSL selected Louisville's Brock Granger, a 5-foot-9 defender from Honolulu, Hawaii. Nineteen picks later, Salt Lake drafted Max Wasserman, a former teammate of RSL defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe at the University of Connecticut.
RSL coach Jason Kreis said this weekend that the club does not alter its draft strategy based on need. But with defenders Nat Borchers and Chris Wingert expected to miss some early season games, Tuesday's selections could help pad RSL's roster.
Salt Lake traded away a pair of supplemental draft picks last week to move up two spots to grab forward Devon Sandoval in the MLS SuperDraft.
