Vietnam effects

"A Doorway" concludes today.

This play by Robert Hoff looks at the effects that the Vietnam War had, decades later, on the people who fought. The play starts at 7:15 p.m. at the Ft. Douglas Post Theatre at the University of Utah (northeast of the Event Center). Parking is free at Ft. Douglas after 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for veterans.

Many events for Women's Week

"Motherhood Matters: Challenges, Complications & New Definitions" is the theme for the University of Utah Women's Week that kicks off today through Thursday with the following free events:

Today, "Mother Superior" is a recent 2007 Sundance Short Film submission that explores mothers and methamphetamine use in Utah. The 22-minute Spy Hop documentary begins at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion with the filmmakers, Alex Mack and Diana Montero - the youngest filmmakers at Sundance-in the Olpin Union Theater, 200 S. Central Campus Drive.

Monday, is the "Mommy Monologues" performance at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, 410 Campus Center Drive. It delves into motherhood and women who opted not to become mothers, and it explores ethnicity, sexuality and religion.

Tuesday, "On the Clock" is a community panel, moderated by Debra Daniels, that explores the successes and pitfalls of women and mothers trying to balance life in the work force, at noon in the Olpin Union Ballroom, 200 S. Central Campus Drive.

Wednesday, Julianne Malveaux will deliver a keynote address at noon in the Olpin Union Saltair Room, 200 S. Central Campus Drive.

Thursday, Susan Douglas will deliver a keynote address at 7 p.m. in the Olpin Union Saltair Room, 200 S. Central Campus Drive.

Artwork by Alice Perrault is on display at the Baily Exhibition Hall of the College of Architecture, 375 S. 1530 East, through March 16. Perrault's focus is on her experience as a mother of a young son born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A reception is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Monday.
