Wake up, symphony

I was taken aback by letters regarding the ongoing saga with the third-tier subscribers to Utah Symphony concerts.

Sean Toomey of Utah Symphony and Opera says the subscribers are mainly "veterans" who want warmer temperatures. That's just another way of saying these are elderly people. Has he bothered to look around Abravanel Hall lately? Many, if not most, of the people in attendance are regulars, not the young people in Salt Lake. Many of the younger set attend now and then simply because they are required to by a professor in a music class.

I am a "veteran" who has been attending the concerts for 63 years. I like my seat in the second tier. I don't need high temperatures and the sound is much better there than on the main floor. I fear the whole enterprise may just fold if someone doesn't take notice of what's happening and soon. To double the price of tickets for those who sit on the third tier is completely unfair. This whole controversy should be a wake-up call for the orchestra administration.
