Posted: 6:30 AM- Former Duchesne County Attorney Karen Allen was arrested after crashing her car. She was booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

Allen, 60, drove off the right side of the roadway and crashed into some rocks at the bottom on an embankment. She was not injured.

Allen refused to submit to a field sobriety test, but later allowed her blood to be drawn at the jail. Results of a blood test are pending.

Allen told the trooper she was traveling about 20 mph Tuesday when she lost control of her vehicle just outside of Duchesne city.

Allen was defeated by current County Attorney Stephen Foote at the county's Republican Convention last year. She now works on the county payroll defending indigent criminal defendants.

It is expected that a prosecutor from another county will handle Allen's case to avoid potential conflicts.
