Man may have come early to N. Europe (Tribune, Dec. 15) shows a picture of a rock and says that Ancient tools found in Britain show that humans lived in northern Europe 200,000 years earlier than was previously known. These tools are 32 black flint artifacts, found in river sediments.
Artifacts? They're rocks! Sure, they have been chipped to shapes that some caveman might have found useful. Sure, they look like some intelligent beings made them as tools. But we all know better than to believe that this proves they were designed or that they were made by human beings, don't we?
Are these scientists asking us to believe that rocks found in natural surroundings are evidence of Intelligent Design? Why aren't they being roundly denounced and shunned by real scientists for being unscientific and pushing their superstitious beliefs?
